A curious extreme sport
This extreme sport Zorbing comes from New Zealand, the land of bungee- jumping and practiced by rolling on a slope (not only) of 2 people (or one) with an inflatable ball called Zorg (transparent area) without bruises or other shots. The Inflatable sphere have an exterior diameter contained between 2.6 and 3.8 meters and is composed of two layers (inner and outer) thin thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU – 0.8 mm / 1 mm) attached to each other in a few hundred strings of different colors. In the space between the two layers are air pumps to ensure protection of those who practice the sport, the impact with the earth is absorbed by the cushion of air between the 2 spheres.
The giant ball for this sport is transparent, very resistant to scratches, extreme temperatures (-20 and 50
degrees), very flexible, weighs about 76 kg and can reach speeds of 52 mph (world record). Inside the inflatable sphere is the space (less than a balloon) where sit those who practice this sport. Zorbing site can be practice with one or two persons in the interior. Those in the interior are provided with belts made of a very resistant material that is used. After anchoring the practitioners of Zorbing, the inflatable sphere is pushed to the valley in order to catch speed, and it will stop when reaches a flat area.
Zorbing enters in the category of secure extreme sports category, offering a 100% security of those who practice it, no accident being recorded in time. Zorbing can be practice on ice, grass, water, earth or snow on the slopes with an inclination between 5 and 30 degrees. In New Zealand there is even “some” special areas for zorbing, with air rising installations . A variation of zorbing is without the center belts inside and is recommended only for one person. In the interior of the sphere it can be some water and the one who is in the inter can run, roll, rotate freely.
The sport can be practiced either resorting to various companies that rent these strange balls or you can buy your own inflatable sphere. Price for zorba is around 2700 Euros. So go ahead and roll yourself
